Bedford Middle School’s 8th Graders Rally for Ronald McDonald House

Bedford Middle School’s 8th-grade trio—Isabella Brogan, Aubrey Kurek, and Jasmine Philbeck—recently demonstrated their compassion and commitment to community service by choosing to support Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio. These dedicated students, all members of the National Junior Honor Society, make it a yearly tradition to embark on a service project, and this time, they set their sights on making a meaningful impact on the lives of families supported by the Ronald McDonald House.

To bring their initiative to life, the girls organized a fundraising campaign to cover the costs of preparing a hearty meal for the Ronald McDonald House. Their efforts resonated strongly with the local community, resulting in an overwhelming response that saw them raise over $1,100. This generous sum not only covered the expenses of their planned meal but also allowed them to fulfill additional needs outlined in the Ronald McDonald House wish list. Among the items purchased were a new vacuum, pillows, cleaning supplies, toiletries, and snacks, contributing to the overall well-being of those staying at the House.

The significance of their charitable endeavor goes beyond mere generosity, as two of the girls have a personal connection to the services provided by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio. Although their families did not utilize the House during their stays in the NICU, the girls and their families fully grasp the crucial role the Ronald McDonald House plays in supporting families during challenging times. Through their thoughtful actions, Isabella, Aubrey, and Jasmine have not only made a positive impact on the Ronald McDonald House community but have also showcased the power of empathy and the difference young individuals can make in the lives of others.
