Capital Campaign FAQs
Q. Have you moved into the new building yet?
A. Yes, we moved into the new facility in December 2015. It has 22 private rooms available for eligible families to stay overnight during their child’s medical treatment. There is also expanded kitchen space, living room areas, a children’s play area, day guest common areas, laundry facilities, an outdoor playground, and administration office space.
The new House provides more spacious common areas with comfortable furniture provide room for families to relax and get respite from tiring days spent at the hospital. It is ADA compliant and has an elevator, which was lacking in the previous house. There is also a larger and updated commercial kitchen, more storage, and more community space that allows outside community groups to use parts of the facility for meetings.
Q. Are you still raising funds for the building?
A. Yes, even though we have occupied the new building, we still have funds to raise for the entire project. Due to architectural changes, the original cost of the project increased from $8M to $9.4M. We were successful in reaching the original $8M goal, but there remains a gap from the original to the increased number. RMHC of Northwest Ohio continues to reach out to community supporters for needed funds.
Q. What is your plan for sustainability?
A. We recognize that the larger facility will incur more expenses as we meet the needs of 50% more families. Staff leadership has been proactive in realizing the growing demands for funds and has adopted an expanded strategic plan that addresses the future opportunities. However, it will be necessary to acquire more donors and community supporters in the immediate future in order to meet the higher expenses of running the new Ronald McDonald House. We ask for anyone interested in supporting our mission to contact us
Q. Are there still naming opportunities available?
A. Yes. Annual room sponsorships are available on a continual basis that give the donor a 12-month naming opportunity of a guest room at the cost of $5,000. Recognition of such support will be conducted through various social media and marketing outlets. RMHC staff is happy to discuss with you gifts that fit your interests and budget.
Q. What happens to the old House?
A. Part of the capital campaign project involved moving to the corner opposite of our original property, which was traded with ProMedica Health System. The hospital has major plans in store for that piece of property as part of their Generations of Care project. Details for this are available on their website.
Q. What is your affiliation with ProMedica and Mercy?
A. The Ronald McDonald House Charities of NW Ohio is an independent 501c3 organization that has no direct affiliation with any medical facility in the area. The organization gladly serves families with ill children from all local medical centers, including Toledo Children’s, Mercy, UTMC, and River Centre Clinic.
Q. I want to make a gift to the capital campaign. What are my options?
A. We are pleased to hear this news! You may contact the House and speak to Chad Bringman, Executive Director (chad@rmhctoledo.org), or a member of our Development Staff at 419-471-4663. Online giving is available on this website on the Donate page. Gifts to capital campaign may be made over a five-year period and the staff will be glad to work with you on a pledge payment schedule.
